Faith, Hope, and Charity (the Beatitudes) …and Some Photography

…because this is a photography blog. 😉

When I was a teenager, I went to church most every Sunday. I was always so bored in sacrament meeting, it was the longest hour of my entire life. I have been enjoying the weeks I get to go to church. I really enjoy the sacrament meeting talks and have enjoyed partaking of the sacrament. Today was a little different. I never really knew what people were talking about when they said they felt the spirit in those meetings. I remember feeling the spirit usually during the hymns, but I talked myself into thinking that I just really enjoy music. Maybe it has something to do with my mother being a lover of music and extending that love to my family, but those were the times where I felt something other than boredom. Today I felt the spirit very strongly during the entire hour of the meeting. I hate working every other weekend and missing these moments. I never thought I would ever say that.

The beatitudes is a subject that has always been at the core of my beliefs whether I was religious or not. I have always believed this way and I love they way today’s speakers spoke about this important message. I wish I could share it with you but I wouldn’t be able to do it justice, instead I will just share the scripture-

Matthew 5:3–12

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Here are some more of my 35mm photos from the last set I had developed. Again this is from my Olympus OM-1. They look like they are off by one F-stop so I will try to use the light meter as-is and decide for myself if it is actually off by one f-stop as the seller suggested. This is Eureka, I wish I would have had something more uplifting to post with the Beatitudes, I should have included the Capitol Reef photos with this post instead. Good thing I am not a professional. 😉
